Presentation from 9/19

Honestly made me never want to use the internet again. As soon as I got home I immediately edited some features on my facebook profile. I have also been reconsidering whether or not it is such a good idea to use someone else's wireless signal, even if it is free and tempting! At any rate, despite the dangers I definitely still enjoy the convenience of the internet and will most likely not stop my useage of it anytime soon.

Mark,

I know how you feel. As a parent of a 26 year old and a 23 year old, I certainly breathed a sigh of relief knowing that they don't have accounts on Face Book or MySpace! But I'm struggling with the fact that my wireless connection is unsecured, which was the only way I could get it to work on my laptop. After dealing with both the wireless service provider and the computer manufacturer's tech support without much success, I think I'm going to hire someone to fix my computer so that I can go back to a secured connection. I had no idea that someone could actually access my hard drive and alter my files through an unsecured wireless connection; very scary!

Mark!
I agree on the whole facebook thing. I'm definitely more careful as to what I post on people's walls, what pictures and personal information I have on it... Scary thought what people are capable of doing. And I never knew HOW BIG of a fellon it was to 'steal' internet.. (so yeah.. no more stealing Mark ;)

You can browse safely on the internet. Try not to leaving digital trails and secure your computer. With regards to tapping into someone else's wireless service, it is still illegal, and most importantly very unsafe. It comes down to whether or not it's a victim less crime, because you could very well end up being the victim!

i definitely know how you feel. I was pretty freaked out by that presentation. But now i guess we need to be extra careful not to expose our full identity to complete strangers.
